Update on Friday!

We got the mail Friday and there was a nice surprise for us and the kiddos. We got cards from... let's see the address label said Paul Cline (aka Grandpa Butch) yup that's right they were from Mamaw and Grandpa. Jared felt the need to open the envelope with scissors, he was excited to find some money which his is going to use for his book order. He has had his eye on a book, yup a Star Wars book. He said "Thanks!"

Now Nicklas was so excited he could hardly contain himself, the child would not sit still, so these are best of what I had to choose from. Nick has no plans for the money as of yet but I'm sure he will think of something
He also said "Thhhhhanksssss!!!" (Nick style) I will wait for John to open ours but thanks ahead of time!

This was a fun weather week this week. Monday nothing too bad just a little rain here and there. We were a good boy and girl and did our taxes, then went to shopping for all the necessities of soccer for Nicklas. Tuesday it was back into the swing of things, work for JC, school for the boys and stuff at home for me. I was sitting on the couch and folding laundry, I looked outside and saw pretty snow flurries. The wind was blowing the snowflakes in every direction. It reminded me of when you first shake up a snow globe, and all the snow inside goes in different directions very fast. I felt like I was in a snow globe. Wednesday we woke up to some snow on the ground, it is so beautiful. We knew it was supposed to snow and the boys were praying for a snow day or at lest a 2 hour late start. But alas for them no such luck. (maybe because it is supposed to snow more and freeze over and they just might get their snow day) It snowed off and on all day but did not stick and by about 1pm just about all of it had melted away. They canceled church because all of the snow that melted will most likely freeze, and not very many people enjoy driving  on the ice (yours truly included). Also the pastor is at a leadership conference. So the boys and I had a little Bible study of our own. We had to get Nick a new Bible, cause he dropped his other one so many times, it was falling apart. He really likes the new one, it even has his name on it!

He wanted to make a silly face, I said no, but let him after this one and had to inclued it also.
That's our Nick! I was in a hurry to make dinner and tried to make the family sick (nice huh) John said " did you do something different to the broccoli and the rice? It tastes funny...like soap." Uh Oh! I guess I did not rinse the dishes as well as I thought. I felt really bad, cause I was getting on to Nick about eatting his broccoli (he usually has no problem eating it and this was before John said something). To make up for it I made them brownie sundays, with mint chocolate chip ice cream. This is one of the rare times they did not have to eat their veggies to get dessert. Sorry babes...

Jared better STOP growing!

Nick loves his silly bands, cause he is a silly boy!
So I caved in and made an appointment to get my ankle checked out, by an orthopedic dr. Thankfully when I called to make the appt. they had a cancellation and they could see me March 3rd. So hopefully  they can tell me what in the world is going on with it. I did not sleep very good that night, my mind was going and would not stop. I had been asked to donate some jewelry to The Night of Hope, to benefit children's cancer research. Some army wives put it on, I felt honored, and it is a good cause. I think I just had too many ideas going through my head, and once I get an idea, I have to get it done or it bugs me till I do. Once it is complete I'll post pictures. Thursday we woke to snow covered ground, and a two hour school delay. Needless to say the boys were jazzed. As I'm cooking breakfast I get a call from the school, they decided to cancel due to the weather. I thought maybe they had a lot of teachers call in because of the roads, it could also be that it did not get above 32 and snowed off and on all day. Jared took Sassy (AKA Sassmaster) out to go potty. Nick wanted to go out to see the snow, so out they went in there pjs and coats.

This next one of Jared cracks me up cause I wanted him to smile but he went out in the snow in his slippers, so his feet were cold and starting to get wet. Silly kid.

And you know Nick, he thinks who cares lets get wet and messy.

Did you notice how he his mixing up his heroes? Iron man on top and Buzz Lightyear on the bottom...
I was a mean mom and made them read and do chores before they could go and play in the snow. After they were done they did a happy dance.

Then came the fun stuff! Playing in the snow! Nick went first of course, then Jd very consciously.

Nick wiped out next, and I had to get him with a snowball! But turn-abouts-fair play, and he got me!

Then we got a rope and tied it one of the sleds, Jared pulled Nick around.

Yes those are Christmas lights still up on the house, JC had been so busy  with work and did not  get home till after dark. I'm not getting up on the ladder with my graceful self, besides I'm still too short on a ladder. Nick wanted to give Jared a turn on the sled very funny listening to all the grunting as he tried to pull Jared, and he did it.

I'm posting these pictures here just for you Mom C. before I put them on face book. Love ya! Friday school is canceled again due to the VERY icy roads. I have mixed feelings. On one hand I enjoy the time with the boys, and letting them have fun in the snow. On the other hand, it means they will not get out of school till around June 24th. I remember when we got out of school June 10th or 12th. Oh well, such as life. Alright people, I think that is all for this post. Probably more than some wanted to know sorry,  I know I can go on and on and on and on and on and on some more HA HA gotcha! Love ya all!

Well another week gone. We did not have our meeting at the Aspire school for Jared. They had to reschedual due to the principal getting sick. We are still waiting to hear when they plan to have it. The boys got their report cards this week. Jared over all did well, just needs to work on his fractions, and division (gee wonder where he gets that) I have tried to help him with some of his homework, but they are teaching in such a different way these days, it made no sense to me and they don't send directions So I was very frustrated. We would have to wait for John to get home to have him help Jared. Even that would confuse the poor kid. you find out what happened soon... In the comments, his teacher wrote "I enjoy Jared's positive attitude toward learning and working with his classmates. His consistently respectful demeanor and attentiveness in class are greatly appreciated." So of course I was concerned about his math. I spoke with his teacher and she said that he had taken another test and had gotten 100%, she was very proud of him. She had get the report cards done a few weeks before they went out so Jared had some time to work on things, and get better, praise the Lord!  Nicklas also did well overall, but he needs to work on his reading fluency, but I have always had an issue with this, I would much rather him understand what he reads than to fly through it and not remember anything. We are working on it though. His teacher said that," he is doing well overall and he is motivated worker, responsible, and respectful."  although this week he must have forgotten everything for a short bit of time. He went on a field trip to go see a play Peter and the Wolf. The kids road the bus, and some were really acting out, and unfortunately he was one of the ones they had to tell several times to quite down (more than three) and when they got back to school they (those that were not listening) had to write out what the expectations are when they go on field trips. Although I'm considering not letting him go on the next one. we'll see... well that's about it for now love you all  oxox.

So this week we had your everyday stuff, but also Nick got ready for his Valentine party at school. Jared came home from school and his teacher said that fifth graders don't really do Valentine's parties, but I think she changed her mind, cause they are going to make cards in class and have snacks. I had a couple jewelry orders to fill, some cute Valentine bracelets for a girl scout troop, and some earrings for a friend. I also made some ROCKING earrings if I do say so myself ha ha.  Thursday the boys had a sleep over, I know on a school night? But we were helping out a friend and her son goes to school with the boys, so it works out. Jared has started up pottery at school, and is really enjoying it. He goes once a week after school till 4:30. The Art teacher was only going to allow 10 kids on a first come first serve bases (he also teaches art at other schools), but he had such a great response, he could not say no to the kids so instead of 10 he has 40! We just signed Nicklas up for spring soccer, I think he will do really well, cause the child doesn't walk any where.  John and I will be going to a meeting on this next Wednesday for a performing arts middle school for Jared. It would be better than the regular school, the reg middle school  is pretty rough and I just don't feel good about sending him there. But the Arts middle school is like a lottery, they put in all the applications and draw the kids out... so we'll see. If you all would keep that in your prayers that would be great! John had Friday off and we had plans to go out and have fun, but a little flu bug had other plans for my honey, but at least he got a three day weekend, to try and get over it. Some of the ladies got together and started a game night once a month. Tonight was the first night, it was a lot of fun! Although I came home to two sick guys :( but I'm hoping with some rest, fluids and a little tlc, they will be back up and around in no time. More to come...
